WHO WILL BE THE ULTIMATE GOAT? SUPER BOWL 55

WELCOME BACK!

Can you believe Super Bowl Sunday is almost here? Well I have a treat for you today. I invited a guest blogger here to do the predictions with me, my friend Casey Marshall! Here goes:

Casey's Pick:

Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner, and while many of you are likely betting against the GOAT in favour of the young GOAT, that might not be the best bang for the buck! Mahome’s has lit the NFL fanbase on fire with his impressive no look passes, his impeccable decision making and his come from behind, never out of the fight demeanour. But let’s not forget the real, greatest of all time, you love to hate him… Tom Brady.  He holds every NFL playoff passing record, while boasting one of the most impressive come from behind victories in Super Bowl history. To bet against the GOAT is to bet that Reddit would tank the stock market, thank you Gamestop.

With the greatest sporting event only days away, the Tampa Buccaneers are my pick to win it all and here’s why; Superstitions aside, the Bucs will don their white jerseys and pewter pants, a combination that lead the Buc’s to their best record this season, while TB12 also has his best record in Super Bowls wearing his whites at 4-1, he hasn’t had the same success wearing his home jersey as a former Patriot at 2-2.  Tampa Bay’s defence has hit their stride during the playoffs, ranking #1 against the run and they are pretty darn good against the pass too.  Facing Aaron Rodgers, they were able to get pressure and rack up 5 sacks while only rushing 4, which will be an asset against Mahome’s who is stellar against the blitz. The Buc’s D will also benefit from having starting safety, Antoine Winfield Jr. back from injury, he can cover the field and has the speed to keep up with the Chief’s speedy receiving core.  While both offenses have potent passing games and deep threats all over the field, it will be the Buc’s defence that steps up, makes plays and sets the tone that helps push the Buccaneers to Super Bowl victory this Sunday!

Prediction: 34-27 Buccaneers.  Devin White named Super Bowl MVP.

Amanda's Pick:

When did everyone become such Tom Brady fans? Seems like the TB12 bandwagon has a lot of passengers as of late. Yes, Tom Brady is more likely to reach the Super Bowl in any season than Steph Curry is to make a 3 pointer, Lebron James to make a free throw or a PGA golfer to make a putt within 5 feet. Legend Status. The Super Bowl will not be about Brady, though. It will be about how Tampa can stop Patrick Mahomes.

Tom Brady has done great work leading the Buccaneers and raising their offensive efficiency. The "home team" also has a pretty good overall defense BUT the X-factor in this game is Bucs defensive line against KC’s offensive line. I think this will be a high passing game for KC as Tampa will be all over their run game.

Patrick Mahomes has passed for 462 yards in the regular-season meeting, and at one point it looked like Tyreek Hill would set the single-game receiving record. With left Tackle Eric Fisher’s injury is a major storyline given how Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul were able to combine for five sacks in the NFC championship game, but Mahomes presents more of a challenge because of his mobility.

Tampa did an excellent job against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. But this is even a half-step beyond that. And they won’t succeed. Mahomes is too elusive, too inventive. It will not be easy for KC, but it will be done.

Forget about Mahomes vs Brady, the real losers are the Steelers. They have to watch either Le'Veon Bell or Antonio Brown win a Super Bowl. And that’s the tea.

Score Prediction: Chief (-3) 35, Bucs 32
